Process for certification of Windows XP and usage of the Louisburg College Network.
Computer or laptop requirements: Windows XP, 256 ram
1. Click and install the CTA on your computer or laptop.
Certificate Install (Select "Run", then "OK". When the error dialog box pops up, choose "Don't Send". The certificate is installed. )
2. Click to install Symantec's Security Posture Plug-in

3. Symantec Antivirus needs to be installed on your computer or laptop

4. Check to see if you have Windows Firewall installed on your computer.
a. Go to Start>settings>control panel and double click on Windows Firewall or Security Center than Windows Firewall (you will not see Windows Firewall if your computer does not have service pack 2 installed, which is a Microsoft Update).
PS If you do not have Windows Firewall installed, you can access the network without it put you MUST have steps 1. 2. and 3. complete.
To open the port

Click on Exceptions tab >Click on Add port and type in a port name , port number 21862, then click on UDP and then click ok, then click ok again.

You also need to open UDP port 21862 in your other software firewall for CTA to function
5. Microsoft Windows updates need to be applied.
When all the items are confirmed you may have access to the internet, and network.
